Waste shipment legislation

The supervision of international transfrontier shipments of waste is based on international agreements and regulations. In the Member States of the European Union, waste shipment legislation is based on Regulation (EC) No. 1013/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on shipments of waste, i.e. the regulation on shipments of waste. The regulation on shipments of waste includes the provisions required by the Basel Convention on shipments of hazardous waste and the OECD decision on shipments of recovered waste. Regulations on transfrontier shipments of waste are also provided in the Waste Act and the Waste Decree.
