Joint website of Finland's environmental administration

Environment.fi is jointly produced and run by Finland's environmental administration. We publish information on environment.fi that helps make environmentally sustainable decisions and solutions.

Environment.fi publishes information on environmental themes such as climate change, biodiversity, water bodies and the sea, the built environment, and pollution prevention. It also provides information on the state of Finland’s environment, sustainable everyday choices, as well as permits and obligations. Key themes include a safe living environment, preserving biodiversity, and preventing environmental harm.

The website is jointly produced and run by the following authorities, which together make up Finland’s environmental administration: The Finnish Environment Institute (Syke), the Ministry of the Environment, Economic Development Centres and Finnish Supervisory Agency.

The information which involves the whole of Finland is primarily produced by Syke and the Ministry of the Environment, with some contributions from  Economic Development Centres and Finnish Supervisory Agency.

Economic Development Centres complement the themes with regional information. If regional environmental information is available alongside nationwide data, the additional regional details are presented at the bottom of the page. In the civic activity section, the Finnish Supervisory Agency and Syke provide information on opportunities to have an impact, which may relate to, for example, the planning of new roads, wind power, or energy production facilities.

Website is published in Finnish, Swedish, and English, with the Finnish version being the most comprehensive.
