Non-Governmental Organisations
Although governmental action is necessary for protecting biodiversity, it is important for governments to work closely with national and international non-governmental organisations (NGOs). NGOs provide insight which can enhance the work being done by national biodiversity decision-making. NGOs are the voice of the interested public; their members are directly involved with a wide variety of environmental concerns. When governments and NGOs work together, biodiversity is better protected.
