LUMONET
LUMONET is the Finnish Clearing-House Mechanism of the Convention on Biological Diversity. It is an Internet-based biodiversity information system.
LUMONET is mainly about Finland. If you want to learn more about the Convention and global biodiversity issues, check out the European Community Clearing-House Mechanism (EC CHM) and the global Clearing-House Mechanism.
LUMO is an abbreviation of "luonnon monimuotoisuus", which is Finnish for Nature's Diversity.

The final report of the project Nordic nature – trends towards 2010, financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers, has been published in English, Swedish and Finnish. The report summarises and concludes the state and trends of biodiversity in the Nordic Region. All published fact sheet are also included in the report. The report can be downloaded from the web pages of the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Find a new species every day. IUCN presents each day of 2010 a different species on the IUCN website, with information on the threats it faces. IUCN has started by featuring some better known species, and will move on to cover both charismatic and obscure species, providing an insight into the astonishing level of biodiversity that exists. By clicking the picture you find the previously presented species.
