Mynämäki
Mynämäki (8,024 inhabitants; 522 km2) is located in SW Finland 30 km north of the city of Turku and within Turku’s sphere of economic influence. Some 63% of the population live in built-up areas.
Of the economically active population 52% work in services, 31% in manufacturing, and 14% in farming and forestry. Small businesses predominate among Mynämäki’s approximately 450 registered enterprises.
Mynämäki has opted to participate in the project owing to its plentiful renewable energy resources per capita, in the form of farmland and forests. The freight railway that currently links Mynämäki to Turku also offers scope for future development as an accessible climate-friendly transport route.
