Approval of construction products

Materials used in construction must be selected to ensure that buildings meet all the essential requirements on strength, fire safety, hygiene, health, environmental impacts, user safety, noise prevention, energy use, insulation and durability.

The fitness for use of construction products may in Finland be attested by the national type approval system, by certified product declarations, and by CE marking within the European Economic Area.

CE marking is increasingly being applied to more types of construction products as harmonised European standards are set, and more products are granted European Technical Approval.
