Library and information services of the environmental administration
The libraries and information services of the environmental administration are:
- Library and Information Service of the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE)
- Special library and Information Services of the Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland (ARA)
- Library and Information Service of the Ministry of Environment
These libraries disseminate environmental information to a wide audience. SYKE's library is open to the public, and has the most comprehensive collection. The library of the Ministry of Environment offers mainly facilities for the ministry personnel. The Housing Fund's library is public, and specialized in housing and building.
SYKE's library works in a close cooperation with other scientific libraries.
International co-operation
Information services have always taken advantage of international connections. An example of this is the co-operation of SYKE with the European Environment Agency (EEA) and Infoterra. Infoterra is the global environmental information exchange network of the United Nations Environment Programme. SYKE's Information Service is Infoterra's national focal point in Finland.
